How often should I get a dental checkup?
For most patients we recommend a checkup and cleaning at least twice a year — roughly every six months. Brushing twice a day and flossing daily matter, but on their own they aren't enough to keep your teeth fully healthy. Regular visits let us catch the early signs of decay, infection, or gum disease before they turn into bigger, more costly problems. If your mouth needs closer monitoring, we may suggest coming in a little more often.
Will my insurance cover a routine cleaning?
Routine cleanings and exams are preventive care, and most dental plans cover them fully or close to it. When you call to book, our team will help verify your benefits so you know what to expect before your visit. What happens if you find a cavity during my checkup?
If we spot a cavity, we'll show you exactly what we're seeing and talk through your options before doing anything. In many cases we can simply remove the decayed area while it's still small, which keeps you comfortable and stops it from spreading. Catching it early is always gentler and easier than waiting — an untreated cavity can spread and turn into a dental emergency.

Absolutely — dental anxiety is more common than most people realize, and we take it seriously. We'll talk through your concerns and build a plan that fits you, from something as simple as listening to music on headphones during your appointment to discussing sedation options — the most common being a pill taken about an hour before your procedure. How long does a checkup appointment take?
A routine checkup and cleaning usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour. If it's your first visit, plan for a little extra time so we can review your dental history and complete a full exam. Either way, we'll work within your schedule to get you the care you need, when you need it.
